NAI Provides Bridge Cranes for Railroad Company
December 2005
Over the last several years, North American Industries (NAI) designed, manufactured, and installed nine bridge cranes in California for Union Pacific Railroad Company. The cranes are integral to ongoing vehicle maintenance operations at several facilities.
Lifting capacities of the custom designed cranes range from 3 tons to 35 tons and the spans range from 26 feet to 72 feet. Some of the lifting systems NAI designed for Union Pacific have two cranes working in tandem on one runway, such as the system shown here.
Union Pacific Railroad is a leading transportation company that operates the largest railroad in North America. The company primarily transports freight such as chemicals, coal, food, forest products, and metals. Union Pacific Railroad is a subsidiary of Union Pacific Corporation.
